WEBINARS - Biosimilar Drugs in Genitourinary Cancer

Dear colleagues,

It is our honor and pleasure to invite you to the series of online courses (Webinars) organized by the Greek Research Group for Uro-Genital Cancer (ΕΕΟΟΓΕΚ) titled "Biosimilar Drugs in Uro-Genital Cancer" on June 9, June 30, and July 21, with the kind educational sponsorship from the international department of Pfizer.

In the last two decades, the survival rate of cancer patients has significantly improved. Among the key factors that have contributed to this advancement are the development of effective systemic therapies for cancer. The contribution of technology in the production of new drugs, the advancement of existing ones, and the reduction of the cost of innovative therapies, so they are accessible to all patients, has been decisive. Biosimilar drugs can play a crucial role in achieving this goal. Although the production of such agents is a major achievement in pharmaceutical science, there is still relatively limited familiarity and, therefore, use of them within the oncology community.

Hellenic Genitourinary Cancer Group (HGUCG), since its establishment, has had as its fundamental goal the promotion of research – both clinical and translational – as well as the education of young colleagues in the treatment of malignancies of the uro-genital system. Within this framework, we are organizing this series of online courses aimed at familiarizing those involved in the management of uro-genital cancer with biosimilar drugs, their development, and clinical applications. Prominent scientists from all fields involved in the design, production, and use of biosimilars will present cutting-edge topics in their areas, in order to achieve the educational objectives of this activity.

With the hope that this effort will further contribute to the education of doctors from all related specialties, as well as pharmacists and nurses, we invite you to participate in this new educational initiative of the HGUCG.

Best regards,

Mihalis Liontos
Pathologist Oncologist, Treasurer of the Hellenic Genitourinary Cancer Group (HGUCG)
